Plaid and ChecksA brief history in Plaid vs Checks. As both of these trends are heavily featuring this season I thought it was only right to give you an explanation of what is what with these two and their distinct differences. Firstly, I will look at Plaid. Plaid is a style derived from the Scottish ancestry who wore Tartan. Tartan was a very traditional pattern that is the same lines and colours running both horizontally and vertically. As time has gone by and fashion took over tradition, Plaid became the new Tartan with the lines and colours not matching the horizonal to the vertical or vice versa.
